    Robert Lawrence "Bob" Welch, Jr., known professionally as just Bob Welch, was an American musician from Los Angeles, California.
Toying with a few minor bands in his early days as a musician, Welch found first major success when invited to join Fleetwood Mac in 1971.
The group had just lost several members, and along with new keyboardist Christine Mcvie, Welch helped usher in a more melodic demeanor for the band.  After releasing the albums 'Future Games' and 'Bare Trees', the group was in for a broader montage of internal issues.  Over the next few albums, lineup changes were consistently changing with the exception of core members, and internal lawsuits over the ownership of the band put Fleetwood Mac out of commission for a while before their 1974 release of 'Heroes Are Hard to Find' featuring Welch on lead guitar.  Years after Fleetwood Mac reached superstardom with their 1975 self-titled release and 1977's 'Rumours', Welch sued other members over a deal with Warner Bros. during that time involving higher royalties he originally wasn't made aware of.
Other than his work with Fleetwood Mac, Welch is known for his solo work throughout the 70's and 80's, with several of his singles hitting the top 100 in the US.  In 2012, Welch passed away due to a self-inflicted gunshot wound; His widow Wendy noted that he had had spinal surgery months earlier and with news of no full recovery did not want his wife to take care of an invalid.  MrsSarahPierce  (Song Bios Copyright © 2016 J♯)
