Antonio Carlos Jobim - Midi File - Backing Track - Midisale.com
Antonio Carlos Brasileiro de Almeida Jobim, also known by Tom Jobim, was a Brazilian songwriter, instrumentalist, and composer. Jobim first became distinguished working with poet and diplomat Vinicius de Moraes on the music for the 1956 play 'Orfey de Conceicao'. From there the two would work together once again, on the score for the film 'Black Orpheus', writing it completely over the telephone. This tricky collaboration would prove popular and the two would continue to write together over their careers. The 1960's were a key and explosive time for Jobin, where in the United States a 'bossa nova' craze would erupt subsequently after the collaborations between he, American jazz saxophonist Stan Getz, Joao Gilberto, and Gilberto's wife Astrud Gilberto was released. The first work, 'Getz/Gilberto', much of which is penned by Jobim, would go on to become one of the best-selling jazz albums of all time. Astrud Gilberto would become an international star due to her vocals on the album, and the album would win Album of the Year at the 1965 Grammies. Jobim is known widely as the composer of one of the most recorded songs of all time, 'Garota de Ipanema', which has been recorded by over 240 other artists. In 1994, after completing his recording of his album 'Antonio Brasileiro', Jobim would visit the doctor for urinary issues resulting in a bladder tumor needing surgery, which would ultimately be the end of the road for the beloved Jobim later that year.
